Hollow Lantern
★★★★★ 4.6
Hollow Lantern is an atmospheric adventure that's all about mood. You explore a fog-drowned coastal town, poke at objects, and slowly piece together what happened to everyone who left. It's quiet and a little eerie, with hand-painted scenes that look great on an OLED screen.
Puzzles are woven into the environment rather than dropped in as logic grids. You find a rusted key, remember a door you passed, and the pieces click together. Nothing is so obscure that you need a walkthrough, though a couple of moments made me stop and think.
The whole thing is offline and short enough to finish in a couple of sittings. I'd call it a story first and a game second, and I mean that as a compliment.
