Tideborne Empires

★★★★★ 4.5 Editor rating

Tideborne Empires is a slower strategy game that trusts you to think. You settle islands, balance food and timber, and plan shipping lanes between your outposts. There's no timer breathing down your neck, so it suits the stop-start rhythm of playing on a phone.

Everything runs locally, which means you can pause mid-plan, lock the screen, and pick it right back up later. I appreciated that the AI opponents play a patient game too, so it feels like a quiet chess match rather than a race.

The interface is the real win here. Maps are readable on a small screen and the menus never bury the important numbers. If you like city-builders but want something you can actually dip into for ten minutes, this fits.
