Tilt or buttons? Mobile racing controls

Every mobile racer has the same argument built in: do you steer by tilting the phone or by tapping on-screen buttons? I used to be firmly tilt, and Neon Dust Rally changed my mind.

Tilt feels natural at first but it falls apart on a crowded train where you can't exactly swing your phone around. Buttons are steadier and let you keep the screen where your eyes already are.

The best racers, like Neon Dust Rally, just let you switch and don't make a fuss about it. Try both for a few laps and go with whatever gets you consistent drifts.

Whatever you pick, look for a game that saves your settings offline. There's nothing worse than reconfiguring controls every single session.
